In compiling a list of characters and the books they inhabit, I was uncertain how to categorize some of the works. For instance, Zane Rowan has his own book Cross in the Crosshairs. But he also appears in Convergent Trails and the short story “A Whole Lotta Redeemin’” in the October 2020 collection Tepid Death. Convergent Trails is tangentially related to the Tyler County books. For that matter, so is The Jim Russet Trilogy and A Good Dead. Jim later investigates a series of killings in Poetic Murder, and Mike Sands is the superintendent in Poetic Murder and Convergent Trails (though he is nameless in the latter). Likewise, Shiloh Bennett is the unnamed veterinarian in Convergent Trails and A Good Dead, and is the wife in a couple other books which I can’t discuss without issuing a Spoiler Alert. Bartholomew Stondt also appears in several books, named or otherwise. He is the veterinarian in fictitious Whispering Pines, Wyoming.

These include Brennan’s Odyssey, Redemption on the High Plains: A Collection of Short Stories (stories 1 and 3), The Jim Russet Trilogy, The Captured, A Good Dead, Strait Arrow, Cross in the Crosshairs, The Edge of Society, Tepid Death, and Building Fence.
